Pocket Pairs - Flopping Overcards Odds
When you are holding a big pocket pair preflop, like KK, QQ, or JJ, you certainly have a very strong hand. However, the value of your hand significantly decreases when an overcard appears on the board.
The more opponents, the higher chances are that somebody hit a pair higher than yours. At the same time, the smaller your pocket pair, the bigger odds are of an overcard being dealt on the flop, turn, or river.
An interesting fact to note is that you are approximately 10 times more likely to make a royal flush with random hole cards than that no overcards will appear on the board, when your starting hand is 33.
